Getting to Know Yolanda
Hello, I’m Yolanda a Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) based in New York. I am passionate about helping individuals heal, grow, and reconnect with their inner strength. My work centers on supporting women, BIPOC individuals, and those navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in compassion.
I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and have experience working in both community-based and private practice settings. I bring a trauma-informed, culturally responsive lens to my work and believe that the therapeutic relationship is a powerful space for transformation. My approach integrates mindfulness, strength-based therapy, and evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Attachment Theory.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and supported. I believe therapy should honor your lived experience and meet you where you are. I’m here to walk beside you—not ahead or behind—as you move toward deeper self-awareness, emotional clarity, and empowered decision-making. Healing is not a one-size-fits-all process, so our work together will be uniquely tailored to you.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Our work will begin with getting to know your goals, your strengths, and the challenges you’re facing. From there, we’ll co-create a plan that feels both manageable and meaningful. I use an integrative approach, often combining mindfulness, CBT, narrative therapy, and strength-based techniques to support emotional regulation and self-trust. We’ll track progress together and adjust our work based on what’s most helpful to you.
